Year in Review
2018 brought many critically important developments to the Studio. New classes and more artists have come in to the space, we launched our Sunday masterclass series, a new sound system was gathered and installed, 3 walls now have video projection capabilities and we installed a new black curtain to cover the mirrors, we participated in Cambridge Arts Council’s Open Studios for the first time, in July we helped launched the first Teranga Children’s Festival with Papa Sy and welcomed children and their families into the Studio to learn about the culture of Senegal. We also presented 6 SKILLSETS (a professional development series for artists) that touched on topics such as marketing and PR, website design, legal matters, money mindset, accounting, writing, and projection design. (We look forward to holding our 2019 SKILLSET series coming to you in winter/spring). In June, we welcomes Janelle Gilchrist into the studio as our first resident artist.
We thank you for your support through all of this.
In August we launched our 2018/2019 fundraiser with a goal of $5,000. This is the largest goal to date for us since we started in 2016. With rent and overhead being our largest expense (and without any subsidy), this amount is truly going directly towards the space itself and programming that we offer to artists. Operating an artist organization without grants or external funding is no small task. We are still here and going strong.
But we need your help!
Our goal for our annual fundraiser in August fell short about $2,250. We had over 35 people donate, so we weren’t short of support.
This time our goal is to raise the rest of our 2018 goal to meet it by the end of the year. We have 48 hours to do this and are asking you to help make that happen.
Thank you for a wonderful year so far. Looking forward to 2019!
Creatively,
