Morning Contemporary Class – Professional Level

Come and fine tune your body, mind, and artistry with Callie Chapman (director Studio at 550 and Zoe Dance). Tailored to the professional working movement artist modalities centered on contemporary and modern dance practices. Floorwork, standing, and phrases are structure to start your day. Investigate and practice somatic connection, memorization, and challenging phrasework to push forward your craft.
Showing up is expected as you can’t do this work in a vacuum. You need to do it together.
Cost: Donation based, sliding scale. Minimum $7
Callie Chapman is a dancer, designer, choreographer, and director of Studio at 550. Her teaching methods have been crafted by utilizing her training in Limon, ballet, contemporary forms, and some dance-theatre influences. Callie was a dancer from Prometheus Dance for nearly 20 years performing internationally and in venues such as the ICA Boston, National Theatre in Quito, Ecuador, Lincoln Center, Copley Theatre, New York Joyce Soho, among others. She has worked with choreographers Diane Arvanites and Tommy Neblett (co-directors of Prometheus Dance) as well as Riley Watts (Forsythe), Korhan Basaaran (Turkey), Christine Fricker (France), among others. Callie also has directed Zoe Dance Company for 18 years and has produced her work in many established venues as well as being presented throughout Boston, New York, and in Santiago de Chile. Her work has been recognized by various residencies (such as the Boston Center for the Arts Dance Residency), grants (NextSteps 2017/18), and opportunities. As a teaching artist she currently is on faculty at Walnut Hill School for the Arts and has taught at various local studios for the past 18 years as well as being a teaching artist for Midday Movement Boston. Callie is a graduate of Boston Conservatory with a B.F.A. in Dance.
