A talk with Dance Informa Critic and Staff Writer Kathryn Boland – How can journalists and artists work together?
Kathryn Boland, Dance Informa Critic and Staff Writer, has had the honor of pleasure of reviewing and interviewing several Boston-based dance artists. This experience has shown her that journalists and writers can actively support each other in the service of raising up innovative, strong dance artists – and the art of dance itself. She looks forward to a frank, open discussion with dance artists in this workshop about the ways in which these goals can be achieved.
Bio – Kathryn Boland grew up dancing in a hometown dance studio in Rhode Island. She knew she had to continue dancing and deepening in her art, so she studied Dance at The George Washington University (BA Dance 2011). She became increasingly interested in the healing and empowering aspects of dance during that time. She subsequently became a yoga instructor (E-RYT 500) and Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT, MA Lesley University Expressive Therapies: Dance/Movement Therapy 2015). Dance writing has always been intriguing and powerful to her, and she has written for Dance Informa (danceinforma.us) since October 2015. Apart from dancing and yoga, to relax she enjoys time in nature, comedy, and music.
